Monthly Favourites - April 2017

This month has felt like the longest month of 2017 so far. Thanks to my exams being at the very end, I’ve had, arguably, too much free time. Even looking back and thinking about my favourites was a challenge. But hey, we got there, and I am happy to give you a glimpse of what this month has been for me.

1.       LaLaLand Soundtrack

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you are missing out. I got the CD for my birthday (old school, I know), and I’ve been jamming to it in the car. I also have it playing on Spotify right now. I was always a drama kid, and this makes me so incredibly happy to listen to. The music is so fantastic.

2.       Beauty and the Beast

How could I not put this on the list? I thought this remake was so magical. Any sane person loves Emma Watson, and she adds so much to every role. I loved the music and the singing and the costumes and everything. It was magical.

3.       Ottawa

I know I JUST wrote this travel post, but this was certainly the highlight of my month. Everything is pretty much already said in the post, so take a look at that. Again, I can’t wait to go back.

4.       Grad Ball

If we’re being technical here, grad ball was in March. To be precise, it was the last day of March. Since there was no way it could go on a March favourites, I’m using it here. Grad ball was so fantastic. I had quite a few glasses of free champagne (shout out to all my friends who knew how much I love champagne), and I looked great. I love dressing up, and I hadn’t done it in a while. It was a great way to end the year surrounded with all of your friends looking so pretty.

5.       Finishing School!!!

It’s a wrap folks! Today, I wrote my last exam, and I am officially done my undergrad! Let me tell you – four years is not a long time. I cannot believe it, and I am so happy and overwhelmed and excited to see what my next step is. I wish my last exam could have been a better one to end with. The one I had yesterday was an English one, and it was with all of my friends, so I wish I could have ended yesterday. Oh well. I am DONE!

I’m leaving for a two week trip to England a week from now, so you all have to look forward to. Other than that, I get to start the best part of my job, and it is summer! I’m not working until the end of the month, so I have a week where I genuinely have nothing to do. I want to get a ton of reading done in the summer. My summer goal is to read all the books I was supposed to read for school. So be prepared for lots of book reviews!

What was your favourite part of April?

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an incredible book. It’s something that really allows readers to understand ho

James Bond and Indiana Jones are the best. I
