Summer Scrapbook Saturday #4

I didn't think I did a lot of things this week, but looking back, I actually did! I've just been busier with work things rather than social things. I do want to get back on the social events because it makes these posts (and my life in general) more interesting.

(moving left to right, top to bottom)

1. On Saturday, I went to a party with Marlee and her boyfriend. I've known this group of people since I was in first year. They are all graduating and moving away, so this was the last kick altogether. It was a great night. This picture is a label was from a guy who remembers the first time I ever drank at a party. That still makes me laugh!

2. On Wednesday night, Sarah came over, and we played Scattergories and ate popcorn. Scattergories is my favourite game to play, so it was a fantastic night. Any night I spend with Sarah is a great night. We really only started talking in September, and we had a spat that lost us three months of friendship, but we came out on top as best friends. She makes my heart happy.

3. The work team I'm on right now is obsessed with Subway. At least one of us goes every day. We should be sponsored by them. This was our Thursday trip, which was also our first presentation. I don't know if I ever explained this, but I'm on promotions team for my job. We put together skits for water safety, sun safety, and first aid. Then, we go to elementary schools and perform them. It's an amazing job, and it is so much fun.

4. Sunday was the first day of summer training for lifeguarding. But it was not all boring stuff. Promo team wrote a parody of "Shut Up and Dance With Me" to perform, and our boss loved it so much that she asked us to perform it at training. Probably one of the most fun things I have had to do for my job.

5. I have a friend I've been Skyping with for a month or so. He asked me to play chess when we first started, and I was horrible. But now, the tables have turned. On Monday night, I beat him for the first time, and the proof is in this picture. Since then, he has not beat me. There was a tie though. We also played Tuesday night. I did meet up with an old co-worker for coffee on Tuesday, but I forgot to take a picture.

6. My sister and I are goofballs. Not much to say about that. I was overheated from my first full day of promo team, so I jumped in the pool with my sister when I got back. We made up a game a couple years ago, and we played it for an hour before I got cold. I ended up spending the night with her, and that was long overdue.

One word to describe this week: tiring. I am now doing full days of acting and singing and dancing around. And staying up late to Skype tends to wear you down. But all in all, I had a good week. A beach day may happen at some point this week with the promo team, and I have a few more plans to work out, so hopefully I will have some good stuff next week!

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an incredible book. It’s something that really allows readers to understand ho
