Pinterest Challenge- DIY Honey Face Mask

I had a face mask in my January favourites, and I have been loving them ever since. I have a bunch of DIY face masks on a Pinterest board, and I decided to try one for this month's Pinterest Challenge. I used a recipe from Indian Beauty Spot. The pin said it was acne clearing, but the website was not very clear, and I did some additional research. Honey has moisturizing and antibacterial qualities, so it should clear up scars and make my skin oh so smooth. Nutmeg also clears scars and brighten skin. Cinnamon is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Ingredients:

- 3 tbsp. honey
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon

1. My mom's really into "designer honey" as my dad calls it, so the honey is organic (don't know if that makes a difference).
2. Add 3 tablespoons of honey.
3. Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
4. Add 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg.
5. Stir the ingredients together.

Real talk: this mixture is sticky and burns when it goes in your nose (example: picture #1). It is also very drippy. I had to use a towel to catch everything as seen in picture #2. Did I like this mask? Not really. It made my skin feel softer, but I didn't see any noticeable changes. I also tried this on my back which is my trouble zone. Some of my spots were less inflamed, but again, I did not see much difference. Maybe it would have been more helpful if there had been repetitive use, but I'm in exams right now and don't have time for that. I think I'll be sticking with the clay mask for a while.

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an incredible book. It’s something that really allows readers to understand ho
